Considering GlassGard protection for your vulnerable areas is a very
important first step towards being prepared for the unexpected. But
there are several other precautions and considerations you can take just in
case. In addition to having a solid and rehearsed evacuation plan,
GlassGard and Florida's Emergency Management division recommend knowing the
following things well in advance of any storm threat:
- Safe routes inland
- Location of local shelters
- Working condition of flashlights, battery
powered radios, etc.
- Where to store loose objects such as lawn
furniture, garbage cans
FEMA also recommends stocking the
following items in the event of an impending storm:
- Water - at least 1 gallon daily per person
for 3 days
- Food - at least enough for 3 days
- Non-perishable packaged or canned food /
juices
- Foods for infants or the elderly
- Snack foods
- Non-electric can opener
- Cooking tools / fuel
- Paper plates / plastic utensils
- Blankets / Pillows, etc.
- Clothing - seasonal / rain gear / sturdy
shoes
- First Aid Kit / Medicines / Medications
- Special Items - for babies and the elderly
- Toiletries - hygiene items
- Moisture wipes
- Flashlight / Batteries
- Radio - Battery operated and NOAA weather
radio
- Cash
- Keys
- Toys, Books and Games
- Important documents - in a waterproof
container (insurance, medical records, bank account numbers, Social
Security card, etc.)

possible
